A MUM who has given birth to 44 children has been banned from having whatever more babies.
Mariam Nabatanzi delivered twins a twelvemonth afterwards she was married off at the historic period of 12. Five more sets of twins followed — along with four sets of triplets and 5 sets of quadruplets.

Three years ago, however, the 39-twelvemonth-old Ugandan was abandoned past her married man, leaving her to back up their surviving 38 children lone.
This has thrown her family into poverty.
She lives with her children in four cramped houses made of cement blocks and topped with corrugated fe in a village surrounded by coffee fields 31 miles north of Kampala.
At present 40, doctors have taken action to stop Mariam having more children.
She said the doctor told her he had "cut my uterus from inside".
Her epic run of pregnancies began subsequently her first sets of twins were born.
When she went to the dr. it was noted that she had unusually large ovaries. He advised her that birth control like pills might cause health problems.
Yet the children kept coming... and coming.
Family sizes are at their largest in Africa.
In Uganda, the fertility rate averages out at 5.6 children per woman, one of the continent's highest, and more than than double the global boilerplate of 2.4 children, co-ordinate to the World Bank.
But her 38-child family is probably the state's biggest breed.

Dr Charles Kiggundu, a gynecologist at Mulago Hospital in Kampala, Uganda, told the Daily Monitor that the most probable cause of Nabatanzi's extreme fertility was hereditary.
He said: "Her case is genetic predisposition to hyper-ovulate — releasing multiple eggs in one bicycle — which significantly increases the adventure of having multiple births.
"It is always genetic"
Her terminal pregnancy, three agone, had complications.
It was her sixth set of twins and one of them died in childbirth, her 6th kid to dice.
Then her husband — oftentimes absent for long stretches — abandoned her. His name is now a family curse.
Nabatanzi refers to him using an curse.
"I have grown up in tears, my man has passed me through a lot of suffering," she said during an interview at her home, hands clasped as her optics welled up.
"All my time has been spent looking later on my children and working to earn some money."
Desperate for greenbacks, Nabatanzi turns a hand to everything: hairdressing, event decorating, collecting and selling flake metal, brewing local gin and selling herbal medicine. The money is swallowed up by nutrient, medical care, clothing and school fees.
On a grimy wall in one room of her home hang proud portraits of some of her children graduating from schoolhouse, gold tinsel around their necks.

Her eldest child Ivan Kibuka, 23, had to drib out of secondary school when the money ran out.
He said: "Mum is overwhelmed, the work is burdensome her, we help where nosotros tin can, like in cooking and washing, but she still carries the whole burden for the family unit. I feel for her,"
Nabatanzi's desire for a large family unit has its roots in tragedy.
Three days afterward she was born, Nabatanzi'southward mother abased the family: her father, the newborn daughter and her v siblings.
"She only left u.s.," said Nabatanzi sombrely, equally some of her ragged children played on the clay floor while others did chores.
After her father remarried, her stepmother poisoned the 5 older children with crushed drinking glass mixed in their food.
They all died.
Nabatanzi escaped considering she was visiting a relative, she says.
"I was seven years old then, too young to even understand what decease actually meant. I was told by relatives what had happened," she said.
She grew upwards wanting to accept six children to rebuild her shattered family.
Providing a home for 38 children is a constant challenge.
Twelve of the children sleep on metal bunk beds with thin mattresses in one small room with grime-caked walls. In the other rooms, lucky children pile onto shared mattresses while the others sleep on the dirt floor.
WHAT IS HYPEROVULATION?
Hyperovulation refers to the production and release of more than ane egg during a menstrual cycle.
Hyperovulation tin occur naturally or be stimulated via hormone treatments for the purposes of egg donation in third-party reproduction.
Under normal conditions, when more than one egg is released, the chances of conceiving fraternal twins or triplets is increased.
Stimulated hyperovulation involves several drugs and the careful monitoring of hormone levels and ovarian status using an ultrasound.
Once mature, follicles are punctured during the egg retrieval procedure and evaluated for quality before being used for in vitro fertilization.
